Foot Care as a Part of Healthy Living

An important part of healthy living is taking care of the body by eating a well balanced diet. Daily supplements may also be taken to provide all the nutrients the body needs for optimum function and cell rejuvenation.

Regular exercise is good for your muscles, heart, and lungs. This greatly improves the blood circulation and helps build a strong immune system.

However, foot care is probably the most neglected aspect of healthy living. The feet are almost always affected by problems and the usual treatments are applying ice packs and taking pain relievers. However, if foot pain persists or does not go away  after a few days, this could mean a more serious condition.

According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, a survey showed that the foot has the lowest rank in the list of body parts and functions that most Americans consider important to their health.

Heel pain is a very common foot problem. Most often this is caused by plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, and bunions. These can lead to very painful conditions in the feet and can affect the performance of daily activities. These may become chronic if not managed properly. If you are experiencing heel pain, it is best to see a specialist, particularly a podiatrist, to provide proper care.
